Apex Legends is a free Battle Royale game played online. It is available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, among others. Apex Legends is set on an island where 20 three-person squads or 30 two-person squads will hunt for weapons and supplies in order to assemble themselves and defeat other players. How to play

• Play with a squad – Through an in-game system that allows you to “ping” useful items and locations to your teammates’ screens, you can provide them with vital information. Before plugging in a microphone, you can pinpoint the location of gear pieces (and what they are), highlight threats, and communicate your direction to teammates. Make use of this to your team’s advantage by sharing your observations and providing them with up-to-date information.
• Make the Arenas your home – There are numerous types of terrain in this region, ranging from expansive fields to a swamp filled with abandoned structures to a vast desert dotted with abandoned outposts. Understanding how to maneuver, the most active areas, and the best loot locations are crucial nuggets of information. This is particularly true when the Ring begins to shrink. In accordance with battle royale convention, the arena is surrounded by a massive Ring that shrinks at regular intervals during the match. You must act swiftly to retrieve all the necessary items before it closes in on you, dealing damage for every second you remain outside its perimeter. Understanding your surroundings will allow you to make quicker decisions and maneuver more effectively.
• Take advantage of Jump Towers, Hot Zones, and Other Features – You can use the semipermanent map objects in Kings Canyon to gain an advantage over your opponents. Jump Towers allow you to ascend into the air and skydive back to the ground, allowing your team to swiftly traverse the map. Hot Zones provide access to higher-tier loot in a random area of the map if you are the first to reach it. Respawn Beacons have the ability to revive fallen allies. Whether you use them to escape a sticky situation or to surprise your opponents, mastering these features adds another dimension to your team’s strategy. That is equivalent to adding another gun to your arsenal.
• Fill your inventory and swap it frequently – Get weapons, grenades, and ammunition, but also locate a protective helmet and body shield. Look for accessories compatible with your weapon. When you pick up an attachment, a slot will appear below it indicating whether it fills that slot or if it will be replaced. If you find a better weapon that uses the same mods as your previous weapons, your mods will transfer automatically. Collect as much ammunition as possible and keep it as well-stocked as possible. Contact your teammates if you require more. Alter your armor, weapons, and other items as you find higher-tier alternatives.
• Be wary of the closing rings – Your map/radar will tell you if you’re within the next safe zone or which direction will bring you there. If you get caught outside the ring, though, you will incur health damage (it ignores your shield) until you get back inside. For the first round, it’s just one damage point for every 1.5 seconds. At that rate, if you start with full health, you could stay outside the ring for almost 2.5 minutes before dying. It’s not a big deal if you get stuck outside the ring early on.
• The wave-drop technique – Each squad has a specified “Jumpmaster” who controls the initial descent of the team. If you believe a teammate is more familiar with the map and more comfortable with free-falling to the ground, you are able to relinquish the role. When you jump, a meter on the left side of the display will indicate your speed and glide. Initially, you should dive until the speedometer reaches 145 mph. Then, you should pull back and glide until it falls to between 130 and 135 points. Shampoo, rinse, and repeat. The ideal jumping distance is approximately 700 meters from your intended destination. If you execute the wave-drop technique perfectly, you should be the first to land in that location.

THE APEX LEGENDS MODES

Apex Legends contains multiple game modes. You can form a squad with friends, or you can play solo and be:

• Training – The game’s introductory tutorial. This must be completed before you can join a match.
• Firing range – An area for testing out weapons, ammunition, and new Legends.

My Verdict

Apex Legends is the newest game in the burgeoning Battle Royale genre, incorporating the core gameplay elements of its contemporaries, including a shrinking playfield, loot-filled maps, and large player counts. Beyond that, Respawn adds additional elements of team play, forcing players into squads of three with teamplay mechanics that work with or without microphones, a requirement for a free-to-play game. Without high-level weapons, it is practically impossible to kill an opponent with a single shot in one-on-one combat. In contrast to faster-paced Battle Royale experiences, the combination of healing items, after-death respawns, and teammate revivals gives players a variety of options for making a comeback. Apex Legends is both scalable and demanding, allowing PC gamers to run the game on older graphics hardware while also giving modern gaming flagships like the RTX 2080 Ti a run for their money at 4K resolution.
